Combine bodyweight exercises with walking to achieve the perfect workout. I like to take a break from my walks to do push-ups, squats, or planks.
When I want a strenuous walk, I add hills to my route. By combining bodyweight exercise and hill walking, you can increase the number of calories you burn during each walk.

I used to look down on walking as a good means of working out till I was taught and shown otherwise by a friend of mine who only engages in walking.

A long walk is definitely going to take good effect throughout your body. I have a target of minimum 6,000 steps every day.
